I originally had no plan to write about this auction, since I have no expertise whatsoever in the field of posters. In the end I found this selection so enjoyable that I couldn't resist putting up a selection of my favorites. This small selection suffices to suggest the range of imagination and strategies of communication of this quintessentially modern medium, beginning with Toulouse-Lautrec and ending with a poster for a 1970's horror movie.
