Fascinating to read your report on this much-trumpeted Ring Cycle! The production stills help give a sense of what you're talking about, even though you point out that, in production, many of the costumes and set devices did not make nearly as much effect as in those stills.

Wonderful to be reminded that there are splendid Wagner singers out there. Sometimes reviewers give the impression that all the glories of voice and interpretation lie in the distant past. I wish I could have heard some of the performers you mention!
